The mission of Net Impact UNH is to inspire, educate, and equip individuals to use the power of business to create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world. We strive to create awareness and concern for a business’s triple bottom line- profit, social impact, and environmental impact.
It’s the Fall semester of 2013, and our semester is already off to a great start! In September, we had the great honor of hosting Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus as a part of the NH Social Business and Microfinance Forum. Our first Social Business Innovation Challenge was a huge success, and has started a growing buzz around social entrepreneurship at UNH. We also had the opportunity to co-host an event featuring activist and social entrepreneur Sam Daley-Harris, who led an inspiring discussion about how ordinary citizens can become more engaged with their community.
Looking ahead, we’re continuing with some of our existing projects, while launching a few new ones! We are continuing to work on our Responsible Endowment Research Project, and are beginning to plan our second annual Careers with Impact event. Our new projects this year include a microfinance feasibility study, a new social business selling tapestries made by refugee women, and contributing to the implementation of Benefit Corporation legislation in New Hampshire. It’s going to be a busy year!
